Christopher Sebastian is an anti-oppression, anti-speciesist writer, activist and lecturer. He is the director of social media for Peace Advocacy Network and sits on the Advisory Council for Encompass, which aims to advance the animal rights movement by creating a more racially equitable society.

Sebastian is also a senior fellow at Sentient Media, is co-founder of VGN, a vegan news network, and somehow finds the time to lecture at Columbia University.

In his own words he uses “a multidisciplinary approach that includes media theory, political science, and social psychology” to focus “on how human relationships with other animals shapes our attitudes about race, sexuality, and class.”1Sebastian, C. 2018. Christopher Sebastian. Available: https://www.christophersebastian.info/ [Accessed 28 October 2021]. In other words, he is an expert in how race, class and veganism intersect.

Sebastian has given many talks at Vegfests around the world and is a frequent guest on vegan podcasts such as Sentientism and the Bearded Vegans.

As has been stated by people far more articulate than me, veganism is a multi-problem solver. You would be hard pressed to find any individual movement for justice that reduces our climate footprint, reduces harm against economically disenfranchised human communities, makes a statement about reproductive autonomy, and expresses solidarity with black and brown people, ON TOP OF not senselessly killing the billions of animals with whom we share this planet.2Sebastian, C. 2019. If veganism is racist and classist, bad news for nonveganism… Available: https://www.christophersebastian.info/post/2018/10/20/if-veganism-is-racist-and-classist-bad-news-for-nonveganism [Accessed 28 October 2021].
